TNR MISSION

The Thursday Night Racing (TNR) Program promotes the core values of the Downtown Sailing Center (DSC) through the sport of sailing:

What is Thursday Night Racing?

Thursday Night Racing (TNR) gives DSC member the opportunity to:

  • Build community
  • Improve sailing skills
  • Enjoy friendly competition after a day at work

We welcome new members to get involved and experience the thrill of sailboat racing!

New to Racing?

If you've never raced before, we recommend starting with a Friday Night Fun Race (FNFR) to see what it's all about. Beginners are welcomed at the fun races and you can use the "Let's Go Sailing" Circle space to find sailing buddies for these events.

ABOUT the TNR Series

  • Season: April through October
  • First Warning Signal: 6:00 PM
  • Boat Type: J/22

Eligibility

J/22 racing is open to members who:

  • Have paid the Racing Upgrade
  • Have joined or formed a TNR team

Space is limited. We strongly recommending finding or forming a team before paying the upgrade. See the Notice of Race (NOR) for team formation details.

Volunteer Expectations

All racers are expected to volunteer throughout the year. A minimum of 4 volunteer hours is expected of all members.

  • Skippers
    • Coaching at Outreach events
    • Coaching Adult Education or Member Clinics
    • Skippering at Member Sails
    • Serving on a committee
  • Crew
    • Crewing at Outreach events
    • Work parties
    • Serving on a committee
