Lead Camp Instructor (Beginner & Intermediate)

Pay: $22-23 per hour, based on experience

Role Type: Seasonal, Part-time

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM

Start Date: June 15, 2026 (some candidates may start earlier)

Reports to: Seasonal Program Manager

Requirements

• Strong leadership and sense of responsibility. 
• Excellent sailing and teaching skills. 
• Ability to work outdoors in summer conditions. 
• Strong communication and listening skills. 
• Experience working with children. 
• Commitment to the highest standards of safety.

Responsibilities

Staff & Program Leadership

• Manage all Beginner and Intermediate Camp instructors. 
• Lead instruction for the Intermediate Camp level. 
• Oversee daily staff assignments and transitions, including lunch coverage. 
• Support staff in accommodating accessibility needs and medication administration.

Safety & Operations

• Operate a powered safety boat. 
• Monitor weather and make safe programmatic decisions. 
• Enact Emergency Action Plans as needed. 
• File incident reports when required. 
• Ensure adherence to American Camp Association (ACA) standards.

Camp Administration

• Manage camper check-in and check-out. 
• Coordinate daily setup and breakdown of camp equipment and facilities. 
• Oversee on-the-water operations from powerboats or keelboats. 
• Report to the Seasonal Program Manager at the start and end of each day. 
• Work closely with the Camp Administrator.

Training Provided

• One week (40 hours) mandatory staff training (June 15–19) 
• US Sailing Basic Keelboat Certification 
• Maryland Safe Boater License 
• First Aid, CPR, AED 
• Emergency Action Plan training
