Pay: $22-23 per hour, based on experience
Role Type: Seasonal, Part-time
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Start Date: June 15, 2026 (some candidates may start earlier)
Reports to: Seasonal Program Manager
Requirements
- Strong leadership and sense of responsibility.
- Excellent sailing and teaching skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in summer conditions.
- Strong communication and listening skills.
- Experience working with children.
- Commitment to the highest standards of safety.
Responsibilities
Staff & Program Leadership
- Manage all Beginner and Intermediate Camp instructors.
- Lead instruction for the Intermediate Camp level.
- Oversee daily staff assignments and transitions, including lunch coverage.
- Support staff in accommodating accessibility needs and medication administration.
Safety & Operations
- Operate a powered safety boat.
- Monitor weather and make safe programmatic decisions.
- Enact Emergency Action Plans as needed.
- File incident reports when required.
- Ensure adherence to American Camp Association (ACA) standards.
Camp Administration
- Manage camper check-in and check-out.
- Coordinate daily setup and breakdown of camp equipment and facilities.
- Oversee on-the-water operations from powerboats or keelboats.
- Report to the Seasonal Program Manager at the start and end of each day.
- Work closely with the Camp Administrator.
Training Provided
- One week (40 hours) mandatory staff training (June 15–19)
- US Sailing Basic Keelboat Certification
- Maryland Safe Boater License
- First Aid, CPR, AED
- Emergency Action Plan training
