Helm for Heroes Racing Volunteer Registration

Registration

  • Helping out around, generally
  • Responsible for operating one of the Powerboats for Race Committee boat, Support boat, or Mark Boat.
    Please arrive at 7AM sharp to prep the boats
  • Managing the racing. While the racing will only take place in the afternoon, we ask for Race Committee to arrive at 7AM to begin setup.
  • Ready and available to assist Sailors onto the boats using a HOYER classic lift and/or a Transfer box & board.
  • Point person for transfers. Need to have prior practice at and approval from DSC.
  • Please arrive at 7:30AM to help set up the boats. While you do not need to be a DSC member, you need to be able to COACH/INSTRUCT on a Sonar Class sailboat and have completed a DSC volunteer background check.

VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION EVENT PAGE

This one-day event is designed to provide our military veterans the opportunity to learn the basics of sailing with their families and friends and then race in a family friendly and fun regatta setting.

We ask volunteers to arrive at 7:30 AM sharp** in order to help rig the boats. If you want to help, but you can't arrive until later, please email Stuart to discuss schedule. 

Downtown Sailing Center will have the veterans join us at the sailing center from 8:30AM-4:30PM.

The DSC needs volunteers to fill the following positions:
  • Safety/Mark Boat operators (2)
  • Mark Boat Assistants (2)
  • Transfer leads (2)
  • Transfer aids (4)
  • Sailing/Racing Coaches (18)
  • Race Committee Boat operator (1)
  • Race Committee Officer (2)
