Happy New Year!
We have been busy this winter with exciting new updates for the 2020 season. We are chipping away at numerous projects that bring the highest quality opportunities to our stakeholders.
As a quick update, our team took a holiday at the end of the year and caught up with our families - John to Texas, Johanna to Georgia, and me, Stuart, to North Carolina. Last week, Coach Hannah D. and I flew out to the Olympic Performance Training Committee center in Colorado Springs to work with US Sailing. And in two weeks we all head to the big US Sailing National conference, where we will be joined by Race Council member Laura Ryan. US Sailing is making a big push to improve access and diversity in the sport of sailing; The DSC is honored to be a leader in that effort.
It may seem like things have been quiet at The DSC but we have been engrossed with work behind the scenes. Before we left for the holidays, we placed ALL of our 2020 events on the calendar. Our new website went live on Sunday and continues to receive updates. We are also preparing for our "Spring Soiree." Please mark your calendars for Saturday, March 14th at The BMI.
In other news, we will be recruiting new staff members this year to improve communications and provide for long term organizational stability. Fleet and facilities improvements continue. Programs continue to be refined and (re)developed. And most importantly, our community continues to become more diverse and vibrant.
I want to express my gratitude for your continued involvement with The Downtown Sailing Center. Thank you. I very much look forward to seeing you on the water in this new year!
