The Baltimore International Seafarer's Center, Locust Point

March 20, 2019 - 6PM - 8PM

presented by Rev. Mary Davisson of the B.I.S.C.

What do you do when you are an International Seafarer and you are stuck in port half-way around the world from your home? How do you call home? What do you do if your shipping company misses a payment? What happens if your ship is stuck in drydock?

What is the Baltimore International Seafarer's Center?

"The Baltimore International Seafarers’ Center is an inter-faith ministry rooted in the tradition of Christian hospitality. We ... demonstrate this ... [by] serving the personal and spiritual needs of seafarers in the Port of Baltimore.

We accomplish this purpose by:

  • Respecting the values, faiths, and cultural norms of seafarers and their families.
  • Coordinating ship visitations and delivery of services.
  • Publicizing the contributions of seafarers to our lives and economy.
  • Raising awareness in the community about the rights and needs of seafarers.

Rev. Mary Davisson is a humble yet extremely influential figure in the Port of Baltimore and was honored as "Port Woman of the Year" in 2007.
