Navigation, Charts and Practice

This seminar will give an overview on how to read marine navigation charts for latitude and longitude, aids to navigation (e.g. depth, buoys, beacons, and lights), and the Compass Rose to understand the variation between magnetic north and true north.  There will also be a practice session on how to use navigation charts to fix your position, calculate your speed, and to plot a course using standard chart navigation tools (e.g. plotters and dividers).  Time permitting, the session will go over the fundamentals of using a Sextant!
