THE SAIL FOR KIDS REGATTA

The Sail for Kids Regatta is an Annual Race to Baltimore organized by BCYA and MRSA, benefitting the Downtown Sailing Center's (DSC) Outreach Programs. It's a fun race of about 20 miles from Baltimore Light near Annapolis to Tide Point in Baltimore Harbor. In addition, the DSC also hosts an LOD race for J/22's and Sonars outside Fort McHenry. Trophies are awarded for best in class and most money raised for a donor boat, with t-shirts and goodie bags provided to each donor boat.
The Sail for Kids Fundraiser Celebration is a hosted, post-race event held at the waterside pavilion of the Baltimore Museum of Industry. The party boasts of a great time in a beautiful setting, with great food and drink, a silent auction, music and a social network of sailors and non-sailors alike.
Last year, 2008, we had over 250 participants and raised $20,000. This year, 2009, we had over 300 participants and raised $52,000, offsetting the costs of over 1500 children learning to sail through outreach programs. Read more about this year's event.
