This program has been developed to help older sailors to develop the skills they would need to become certified instructors.  Participants would not only learn to sail but they would also take the US Sailing Powerboating class and receive their powerboating certificate. This certificate will allow them to operate any powerboat in the state of Maryland.

The first week of camp would be dedicated to the Powerboating course. Students would head out and test their high speed skills out on the water on the Chesapeake Bay. They would also spend classroom time learning the importance of boater safety from a US Coast Guard Captain.

Week two of camp would be dedicated to intense sail instruction where participants would learn how to be sailing assistants. They would participate in on the water drills, practices and shadow an instructor who is teaching the level one course.

At the end of the program the student would have the necessary training to become an assistant at the Downtown Sailing Center.

Cost of the program includes all materials for the US Sailing Powerboat Course.

Participants must be between the ages of 13 and 17.
