The America’s Cup (warts and all...)
a lecture with slides and video by Prof. Tom Dolby

The 2017 AC Qualifiers and Playoffs will begin in Bermuda on May 26th. The Finals (challenger vs defender) run 17th-27th June, and there’s even a J-Class Regatta with eight yachts (inc. three 1930s originals). Along with a preview and primer for those planning to follow the race series, Tom will revisit the controversial century-and-a-half year history of the ‘Auld Mug', the dueling skippers that have fought so bitterly over it, and the strategies and designs and that have led to today’s astonishing 50-knot foiling wingsail multihulls.

Join the DSC on Saturday evening after your own excellent afternoon sail, and feel free to bring beverages and snacks. The DSC will have a cooler of ice and light refreshments set up in the Liberty Room for this most excellent presentation.
