  • Please arrive at 4pm to help set up the boats

Registration is closed

Join a group of dedicated individuals from the University of Maryland Spinal Cord Injury Rehab Center for a night on the water.

The Downtown Sailing Center will help participants go out in Access Dinghies and possibly one sonar from 4:00PM-7:00PM. The program is very similar to our Access-Ability Saturday event. We ask volunteers to arrive as close to 4pm as possible to help rig the boats.

It will be a great opportunity for volunteers to experience one of our accessible programs in a relaxed atmosphere. Since the program has a smaller group of participants it allows for the volunteers to learn the ins and outs while helping an amazing group of people learn to sail.

The DSC needs volunteers to fill the following positions:
  • rigger and de-rigger of boats
  • 3-4 sailing buddies
  • 2 transfer aids
  • safety boat operator
  • safety boat coach
  • 1-2 Escorts
  • 1 sonar skipper
  • 1 sonar crew
There is training available for most of these positions, if you are interested in learning about a specific role feel free to call the office at 410-727-0772 or email Johanna Murphy, the DSC Volunteer Coordinator at:  johanna@downtownsailing.org
