Adult Education Programs

The Downtown Sailing Center (DSC) is a volunteer-driven organization that instills confidence, teamwork and a sense of community through a range of educational and recreational sailing programs. We are committed to providing access to the freedom of sailing to everyone in the greater Baltimore area, especially those with disabilities or limited income.

The educational and recreational sailing opportunities that we offer to adults fulfill part of that mission. Adults can learn to sail (and even how to handle a powerboat), polish their sailing skills, go cruising, go racing or just go sailing at the DSC!

Our adult education programs are the foundation for what could be called a "Downtown Sailing Community." We are a community of individuals from as far away as Pennsylvania and Washington, DC; ranging from college students to retirees; professionals and blue collar workers; from all walks of life, economic classes, races and religious affiliations. Most came to the DSC to learn how to sail or to volunteer in the many DSC outreach programs for at-risk children and people with disabilities. And, many have been here for years.

So, whether you are a landlubber or an old salt, if you want to experience the freedom of sailing — and avoid the cost of owning and maintaining your own boat, we have something to offer you! We hope you will join the community here at the DSC.
